What better way to celebrate Morrowind's 21st anniversary than with a fresh Skywind gameplay video? "Necromancer in Mawia" follows the player as they act as an agent of the Tribunal Temple in the ash-choked region of Molag Amur. The mission is straight out of Morrowind, and should feel familiar to players of the original game, while also showcasing re-imagined assets, creative level design ideas, and more immersive dialogue and scripted sequences. Skywind is a huge undertaking with lofty quality standards, and every single person involved is a volunteer working in their spare time. The team has roles available for people of all skill sets and levels, so if you think you might be able to help, please visit 🤍 to sign up. Videos like "Necromancer in Mawia” take a colossal amount of work and co-ordination to put together, but they also accelerate development as we scramble to get every aspect of the video implemented and polished. Still, some keen viewers might notice gaps - missing dialogue, floating objects, or placeholders from Skyrim. It’s been one year since our last gameplay demo and a few months since our last developer update. The “Battle at Nchurdamz” represents some of the progress we have made in every avenue of development - world region design, sound effects, quests, 2D concepts, 3D modelling, implementation, mechanics, weather/atmosphere, voice acting, and more. One of the most exciting things in this video-although it may not look like much right now-is that we finally have simplified the process for creating custom creature skeletons and animations! Our Dwemer spider was the first test using these tools, and in fact uses a different skeleton than the Skyrim Dwemer spider. This marks a major milestone in our development, as these tools have been in the works for years. This opens the door to all sorts of new creature animations, such as for the guar, betty netch, silt strider, kwama, and much more. The lifeblood of Skywind is the passion of its volunteer team. Our motivation is to do justice to a game that helped define the RPG genre, and we'd love to have more contributors help bring this mod to life. As we continue to finalize quests and dungeons like those shown in the demo, we are seeking applicants with voice acting, level design, coding, 3D modeling, and Creation Kit experience to join our team. Two of our developers had a chance to talk about the game during GameStar’s live coverage of the convention. Check out the link above to hear their commentary and insight. While we want to show off iconic things like levitation, cliff racers, and new dungeon types, we felt the need to show something more polished and presentable for Gamescom. Grab your headphones, sit back, and enjoy this extended cut of B-roll footage that played during Daniel Hodge's narration in the new Skywind gameplay demo, accompanied by the intense yet chill track "Queen of the Night Sky" by 🤍FredrikJonassonMusic from the Skywind OST. The idea for the end of the demo was not only to offer viewers a glimpse of breathtaking landmark locations but also a summary of what they just watched. That mere 50 seconds in the demo started out at about 4 minutes. Choosing the best shots was tough, but I am thrilled with the outcome! Those concept shots at the end were me trying to make a cinematic version of the player throughout the journey. I couldn't get the shots to level of quality I wanted, so the idea was scrapped! Today we're checking out an ambitious mod project that attempts to bring Morrowind in the 4th Era to Skyrim! Remaking Oblivion in the Skyrim engine is what this group set out to do when they started the Skyblivion project. This is a volunteer made game which takes time given the scope of this big AAA game. The TESRenewal Project is proud to present our first custom animation and creature skeleton showcasing the iconic and majestic Silt Strider! Be mindful that this is a very ALPHA TEST and does not represent the final outcome. There are noticeable issues with sliding, collision, pathing, etc. This is just a technical test that will be improved over the course of development. The model itself is from Dragonborn and will be replaced with our own, so wild striders will not have the hole in their shell. This groundbreaking process is still in development, but we have now opened the door for custom creatures and animations. We look forward to sharing more with you in the future.
